Here at bonecollector.com, we are gearing up for an eventful Turkey Season and that is why we thought Aprils Bone Collector of the Month should be a Thunder Chicken Lover as well. Michael Houser didn’t start out hunting Turkey until just few years ago but has been addicted ever since.

Michael tells Bone Collector that his favorite place to hunt is in the Pennsylvania lands close to home, but it’s not about the place. He gets the most joy from the pursuit. “I love the one on one with the prey. Knowing that my every move could spell victory or disaster teaches discipline.”

The first time Michael was able to hunt spring turkey was in the spring of 2008. His friend and coworker was an avid turkey hunter and had introduced him the year before. After a long patient wait in the morning drizzle, and almost calling it a day, he final saw his first great gobbler. Michael tells bonecollector.com his story, “After sitting for several hours, it started to drizzle.  Being wet and just a tad frustrated, we decided to call it a morning.  As I was getting up, Jason pushed me back down, and whispered ‘Gobbler 60 yards to the left.’ Once he got into the thirty-yard range, I attempted to slow my heart rate and took my shot. That Tom stopped dead in his tracks. It wasn’t until we broke out the measuring tape that Jason noticed that it had three separate beards- 21 7/8 " of beard. I couldn't believe it.  We have heard of toms with two, but three? And my first Gobbler?! Since that day I have almost been exclusively hunting turkey.”
