Bone Collector Rated #1 for January '09

Posted in News on March 2nd, 2009

Overland Park, KS. - The new Bone Collector Television show on the Outdoor Channel has taken off to a flying start in its first month on the air. The show was rated #1 on the entire network, reaching 908,000 unique households during the month of January with a gross Nielsen rating of 3.07.

Hosts Michael Waddell, Nick Mundt, and Travis "T-Bone" Turner take the Outdoor Channel viewers across the globe in the enthralling, always entertaining "warts and all" style that Outdoor Channel viewers have come to know and love. Hunts of all kinds will be represented - bow, muzzleloader, shotgun, and rifle.

"We're very excited about the positive reaction to the show", said Mark Schaefer, Marketing Manager for Bushnell Outdoor Products, a major sponsor of the series. "Michael, Nick and T-Bone really make viewers feel like they are a part of the Bone Collector Brotherhood".

"We work hard to put together an entertaining and quality show for our viewers", said Waddell. "We couldn't be happier at how things have started off with the Bone Collector show".

Michael Waddell is arguably the outdoor industry's most popular personality, and joining him in hosting Bone Collector is Nick Mundt - field producer, professional guide, and South Dakotan. Waddell and Mundt first met in Wyoming, and their easy-going demeanors and on-camera chemistry make for unforgettable footage. Rounding out the hosting brotherhood is Travis "T-Bone" Turner, the go-to-guy for anything archery, a constant cut-up, and the man with the uncanny ability to consistently take home big game.

The Bone Collector airs on the Outdoor Channel Sundays at 9:30 pm, Wednesdays at 1:00 am and Thursdays at 5:00 pm, Eastern time.

Kansas is Windy

Posted in Nick's Blog on January 30th, 2009

I met up with Michael, T-Bone, and the gang from Surf and Turf in Wichita Kansas and we caravanned over to Stafford Kansas and McMillan Outfitters.  We got to camp and we immediately headed to the stands.  We were seeing a lot of does and deer traffic but no shooters.  So, we headed to an old farmstead, got set up in a corner and the deer began to move.  I spotted a big buck out in the CRP, he made his way in about 500 yards and then cut into the trees about 200 yards in front of me.  He disappeared in the tree grove for a few minutes then all of a sudden, he appeared in the thick trees right under my stand.  My camera man Steve Finch got on him and gave me the okay, I drew and the buck turned and quartered to me a bit as I stopped him.  I hit him high in the shoulder, but a little back.  He ran off and at least had a liver hit.

He slowly made his way towards the CRP; I climbed down and headed back to Tom McMillan’s lodge.  That night we watched the footage and we all determined that he was done for.  The following morning Michael killed a 166 inch 8 pointer – a total giant!  We ate breakfast and decided it was time to go and find my buck.

When we got back to my stand site, T-Bone and I took up the blood and the rest of the crew – Tom McMillan, Michael Waddell and my guide Dave Radke fanned out and looked in the timber and the tall grass of the CRP.  It wasn’t long and Dave hollered, “I found him!”  He hadn’t gone 100 yards from where I made the hit.  He was a mature buck, a 144 inch 5 x 5 with a huge body.

The next evening T-Bone rattled and snort wheezed an old 130 inch 8 pointer and smoked him at 20 yards and he died on camera.  A special thanks to the McMillan’s for a great hunt!

Here we come Kansas!

Posted in T-Bone's Blog on December 18th, 2008

You gotta love Kansas!

We rolled into Kansas on the 3rd of November and we were excited for several reasons.  First, it was the first trip this year that all three of us were together, (Michael, Nick, and myself) Two, it was going to be my first time hunting Kansas.  And third I have been friends with Blake for several years but I have never met Miranda Lambert. She was in camp with us ready to sling some carbon.  The forecast called for cool temps and strong winds, but Tom McMillan told us on our way out the deer were rolling .we were biting at the bit.

Stay tuned for the results

T-Bone and Big Iowa

Posted in T-Bone's Blog on December 18th, 2008

So proud of this Bone,

I was fortunate enough to draw an Iowa archery tag this year, and it has been a dream of mine to hunt in Iowa and harvest a big Iowa buck. Well on Oct 29, that pimple came to a head. I had hunted with Lee and Tiff the first part of October and had marked off a couple of weeks during the season so that if I was not successful I could go back, cuz I did not want to eat a Tag sandwhich.

On our second trip back we hunted some with Lee and Tiff , and scouted out a piece of property that Whitetail Properties had listed and it had some awesome signs on it. Nick and I hung a great morning set and got this rock crusher the first morning we hunted. I can't wait for you guys to see the footage. I have never been so proud.

Shoot straight,
T-Bone
