Waddy’s Turkey Nuggets Recipe

Michael Waddell is perhaps the most dangerous man a turkey could run across in the woods. This is a tried-and-true turkey recipe the Waddells enjoy every year.

Ingredients

  • Wild turkey
  • Flour Batter (optional 2 cups milk, 2 eggs, 2 cups flour)

  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Add your favorite dry seasoning (optional)

(*multiply by each bird if cooking more than one)

Directions

Step 1: Cut up the turkey into small nuggets and soak overnight in buttermilk in the refrigerator.

Step 2: In another bowl add the flour, and your favorite seasoning, if you’d like.

Step 3: Take the nuggets out of the buttermilk and cover them with the flour mixture. (optional* dipping in milk/egg batter before then cover with flour).

Step 4: Grab your favorite fryer and deep fry on 350 until golden brown. Let the excess oil and juices drain.

Step 5: After frying, mix with buffalo sauce (or something similar), or add more seasoning of your choice.

Step 6: Serve to friends, family, or other hunters!

Note: Bone Collector’s Nick Mundt likes his turkey nuggets plain with just garlic salt, onion powder, Cajun seasoning, and a touch of black pepper. He cooks the nuggets the same way with just another dash of garlic salt after frying!

Bone Collector Michael Waddell call turkey using diaphram call

Both Michael and T-bone happen to kill a LOT of birds each and every year. While many hunters often lay their hands on just one, perhaps two birds in their home state every year, the Bone Collector crew stacks birds in many states. This means that these two are absolutely no stranger to cooking wild turkey. If you are looking to try something different this year, go ahead and try one of these wild turkey recipes!
